2011 Santa Fe Springs V TournamentPANTERAS ARE ON A ROLL! The Panteras, with a little help from their friends, rolled to another perfect weekend going 3-0 in the round robin while allowing only one run on Saturday to take the number one seed into Sunday. On Sunday in the single elimination they notched another 3 wins allowing only 5 runs and ending all the games via the mercy rule. The Panteras once again came to the tournament with a stockpile of pitchers with Ryan Webb being joined by Corey Avery and Gerald Pyle of J&B Painting who were not in the tournament. The Panteras opened the single elimiation against Liberty FP and won 11-2 and followed that game with a 14-1 victory over Palm Springs Express. With the win it sent them to their third consective championship game. Ryan Webb started the Championship game against Jason Gluckman of Macabbi USA. Macabbi USA open the game by scoring a run in the first inning on a couple singles. The scored stay 1-0 until the bottom of the 4th when Eli Salazar, on loan from J&B and a former Pantera, connected for a two run shot to right center to take a 2-0 lead. Up until this time Gluckman had retired a very tough batting order without allowing a hit. In the top of the fifth, Avery came in for relief of Webb. The score remain 2-1 until the top of the sixth when Macabbi USA scored a run to tie the game. But in the bottom of the inning the Panteras combined singles and walks to take 5-2 lead. Gluckman, who was pitching his second consective game gave way to Debbie Day with the bases loaded. Avery, who's bat is just as lethal as his pitching, connected for a grand slam home run to end the game and give the Panteras their third championship of the season. Macabbi USA enter Sundays single elimination as the number 6 seed and faced Black Curtian in the opening game and won 6-3. In the semi-final game they faced the Colton Dirt Bags and came from behind to earn a 5-4 win and advance to the championship game. For the weekend, Gluckman played pitcher, firstbase, centerfield and left field as well as having an good weekend at the plate batting .500 with a home run, two doubles and 8 RBI's.
